How to Create a Pie Chart in Google Sheets

Pie charts show how parts relate to a whole. They are effective for displaying proportions, percentages, and category distributions.

1

Prepare Your Data

Organize your data in two columns: labels and values. For example, "Category" and "Amount" with one row per category.

💡 Pie charts work best with 3-7 categories. Too many slices become hard to read.

2

Select Your Data

Highlight your data range, including headers.

3

Insert the Pie Chart

Go to Insert > Chart. In the Chart editor panel, select "Pie chart" as the chart type.

💡 Google Sheets often suggests Pie chart automatically for this data structure.

4

Customize Your Chart

Use the Customize tab in the Chart editor to change colors, add data labels, pull out slices, and adjust the title.
